June 26, 2016—The Big Day!

In spring of 2016, four years after a divorce, and just when I was feeling stabilized in many areas of my life, the universe conspired to punt me out of my comfort zone.
The choice put to me was; the safety of my own home and a corporate career, or the unknown.
With my belly aflutter, I chose the unknown and made the difficult choice to leave the state I had called home for several years—I stopped ‘moonlighting’ as a writer and decided to pool my pennies and resources to actually live my literary dream.
Once again, with the love, support and encouragement of my family, I got myself back to Southern California, where I am starry-eyed aware that I’m making them happen!

2013 Happy Birthday, Cradle Gift!

Several months after I published Faery Sight, while working on my latest manuscript entitled “Maitagarri” (a story of 2 girls with a murky family secret) I realized that “Maitagarri” was really linked to Faery Sight—I just needed to tweak it a little. So "Maitagarri" became Cradle Gift while still in its zygote stage, and shortly after publication, I knew I’d have to write Nahia’s story—for she’s the common denominator in books 1 and 2, and the 200 year link between them.
As I set out to develop Nahia, with fingers crossed, I found that the facts and omissions in Faery Sight, and the applicable references and family trees in Cradle Gift mystically aligned as if Nahia had been supervising the writing process all along!
—Fast forward a year, post-launch, and a seer of past lives tells me that my family, on my mother’s side, had been guardians of a forest in ages past. He said my stories were not made up; they were “recollections” of my family’s life in another time and dimension.
I believe it.

2012 to 2015, A Writer in O-Town

D. Hattingh; the producer of the Tales from Beyond anthologies (based on local legends and ghost stories) asked me to participate in the Tales project along with several local authors.
I was tasked with researching Junction City’s (Ogden) historical facts, interviewing shop owners who coexisted with their own personal ghosts, and lastly ‘writing down the stories as whispered to me’ by my designated spirits on 2-Bit Street.
I contributed three award winning stories to Tales from Two Bit Street, Parts I and II, and Tales from the Wasatch and Beyond: Carolina Blue, 205 ½ 25th Street, and Alison.
Over a three year period (2012-2015) we released and promoted the acclaimed collections.
Through dramatic readings, ghost tours, festivals, local author events, and plays, we made Ogden’s colorful history come to life, and I count myself lucky to have been a part of it!

League of Utah Writers presents first place award, in its genre, to Patricia Bossano's Faery Sight book trailer.

September 17, 2009

The League of Utah Writers announced winners of the “Golden Quill of Excellence” Award in the Children’s and YA Book Category. Utah YA author, Patricia Bossano won first prize alongside noted League authors.
The 2010 “Golden Quill of Excellence” Award in the Young Adult Book Category was presented to Utah young adult’s author, Patricia Bossano for her book, Faery Sight.

2009, Happy Birthday to my Faery Sight!

When I set out to write Faery Sight, my intent wasn’t to produce a full length novel, much less a trilogy; I just wanted to entertain people in my family. I figured it would be a short story, a novella at best. All I knew for sure is that, in that story, fantasy and reality would mesh.
The Faery Sight in my hands now isn’t the same manuscript I started with years ago (1996). For one, it went through two working titles; Once Upon a Faery, and fleetingly, Ersatz. There were also innumerable revisions because additional bits of the story kept waking me up in the middle of the night—my eyes would snap open from a sound sleep, and I just had to roll out of my warm bed and jot down notes I’d have to flesh out the next day.
That was my first experience with characters tapping me on the shoulder and going “a-hem… don’t forget this…”
I didn’t know it then, but the Faerie Legacy series was there all along, waiting for me to wake up to it!
